Changing jobs
Saturday, October 15, 2005For most people, leaving an old comfortable job without having a new one to take its place is as scary as jumping out of a plane above the clouds with only a flimsy parachute.
I left my previous job at a call center at the end of September with no secure job offer for the next. All the last day of work, I couldn’t stop smiling. The thought that went thru my head was always: this is it! My last day! No more night shifts! I was so happy that my co-workers thought it was my birthday or something and kept asking me if congratulations were in order.
To say they were surprised was an understatement. I was one of the few remaining people of the pioneer batch for the project. They were expecting that I would have stayed at least until the new company head came in, but no, I was impatient to go.
What reason did I give? Health reasons. I told my supervisor that my system was out of whack and that I was already consulting a specialist. I felt that the work schedule was one of the reasons I was experiencing hormonal problems.
